Research Themes

Detection and classification of firearms in image, video, and streaming material has become a priority for law enforcement across a range of criminal contexts including firearm trafficking, terrorism, organised crime, domestic violence, and the production of abuse material.

In response we are using state-of-the-art 3D-scanning and photogrammetry technology to develop a bespoke hybrid dataset of real-world firearm imagery, that will, in turn, drive the development of high-quality and granular machine learning models for the classification of firearms.
